แนะนำตัวเองคร่าวๆ เป็นใครกันบ้าง จบการศึกษาที่ไหน และเริ่มเปิดออฟฟิศอย่างไร
ธัมอาร์คิเทคส์ ก่อตั้งโดยคุณธรัช ศิวภักดิ์วัจนเลิศ ในปี 2013 โดยหลังจากจบการศึกษาจากคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้สั่งสมประสบการณ์การทำงานในแวดวงการออกแบบสถาปัตยกรรม มากกว่า 13 ปี โดยเฉพาะโรงแรมรีสอร์ทจากบริษัทสถาปนิกชั้นนำของเมืองไทย หนึ่งในนั้นคือบริษัทบุนนาคอาร์คิเท็คส ของคุณเล็ก เมธา บุนนาค ศิลปินแห่งชาติ และผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการออกแบบโรงแรม นอกจากนี้ยังมีผู้ร่วมก่อตั้ง คือ คุณวทัญญู มูลทองสุข จากคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต ซึ่งคุณวทัญญูเป็นผู้สนับสนุนให้เกิด VERNADOC Phuket โดยความร่วมมือกับ ผศ.ดร.สุดจิต เศวตจินดา (สนั่นไหว) ผู้ก่อตั้ง VERNADOC Thailand และทางธัมอาร์คิเทคส์ก็ได้จัดค่าย VERNADOC Phuket มาแล้ว 3 ครั้งในปี 2017, 2019 และ 2020 โดยอาคารที่ทำการรังวัดคือบ้านหลวงอำนาจนรารักษ์ โรงตีเหล็กไต่สุ่นอั้น และ ไชน่าอินน์ ตามลำดับ
ปรัชญา ความสนใจและแนวคิดการทำงานของออฟฟิศ
แนวคิดการทำงานของธัมอาร์คิเทคส์ คือ ธรรมชาติสถาปัตยกรรม วัฒนธรรม สถาปัตยกรรมที่ยั่งยืนคือสิ่งปลูกสร้างที่ยืนอยู่ตรงกลางอย่างอ่อนน้อม ระหว่างธรรมชาติและวัฒนธรรม เรามองว่าสิ่งปลูกสร้าง คือรูปธรรมที่หยัดยืนอยู่ได้ด้วยฐานและรากที่มักจะเกี่ยวพันกำเนิดมาจากสองสิ่ง นั่นคือธรรมชาติ และวัฒนธรรม ในฐานะสถาปนิกเราเข้าใจว่าเราไม่ใช่นักโบราณคดี จึงได้เพิ่มเติมมิติเวลาเข้ามาในงานออกแบบด้วย เพื่อมอบความเป็นเอกลักษณ์ทางเวลาให้กับงานนั้นๆ ให้ผู้ใช้ได้รับรู้ถึงรากเหง้าของสถานที่ แต่ในขณะเดียวกันก็แยกแยะได้ว่าอาคารหลังนั้นถูกสร้างขึ้นในยุคสมัยไหน

Little Nyonya Hotel ได้รับรางรางวัลสถาปัตยกรรมสมควรเผยแพร่ ในงาน South Up หยับหรอย สถาปนิกทักษิณ ’59 ทันทีในปีที่การก่อสร้างแล้วเสร็จ
Xinlor House แนวคิด “ถนน-รถ-การเดินทาง” มาเป็นแนวคิดหลัก โดยใช้รูปแบบที่ขอเรียกเอาเองว่า Sinoindustrial มาเป็นสื่อในการสร้างแนวคิดนามธรรมอันนี้ให้กลายเป็นรูปธรรม
Sound Gallery House เป็นของตระกูลหลิม ซึ่งในภาษาจีน หลิมแปลว่า ป่าไม้ และตระกูลหลิมยังเป็นเจ้าของโรงเรียนดนตรียามาฮ่าภูเก็ตอีกด้วย ดั “ต้นไม้ กับ ดนตรี” จึงกลายมาเป็นแรงบันดาลใจหลักในการสร้างเอกลักษณ์ที่เฉพาะเจาะจง
Swensen’s Kad Nan ความเป็นไปได้ใน “การเกื้อหนุนกัน” ของกิจกรรมใหม่ กับที่ว่างจากวัฒนธรรมเก่าแม้ว่าจะเป็นในเชิงพาณิชย์เข้มข้นก็ตาม

อยากเห็นวงการวิชาชีพสถาปนิกไทยเป็นอย่างไร
เราอยากเห็นวงการสถาปนิกไทยได้รับความเข้าใจที่ถูกต้องจากคนทั่วๆ ไปเสียทีว่าเป็น “วิชาชีพ” คือเป็นอาชีพที่ต้องมีความรู้เฉพาะและนำสหวิชามาใช้ในการทำงาน สถาปนิก เป็นอีกหนึ่งอาชีพไม่ใช่การรับจ้างหรือรับทำของ คุณค่าและเกียรติของอาชีพสถาปนิกจึงจะค่อยๆ ได้รับความเข้าใจและอาชีพสถาปนิกจึงจะถูกนำมาใช้ประโยชน์มากขึ้นในการพัฒนาประเทศต่อไป
Briefly introduce yourself – Who are you, where did you graduate from and how did you start running your office?
Dhamarchitects was founded in 2013 by Dharaj Shivapakwajjanalert, an architecture graduate from the Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University. Dharaj has accumulated experiences for more than 13 years working in the field of design and architecture, especially for hotels and resorts. He has worked in leading architecture firms including Bunnag Architects – the famous architecture firm founded by Lek Metha Bunnag, a national artist and a renowned hotel design expert. Our office was also co-founded by Watanyoo Moolthongsuk, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture, Rangsit University. Watunyoo is also a supporter and promoter of VERNADOC Phuket in collaboration with Asst. Prof. Dr. Sudjit Sawetchinda (Sananwai), the founder of VERNADOC Thailand. Until now we have organized 3 VERNADOC Phuket Camps in 2017, 2019 and 2020. The buildings which were surveyed are Luang Amnachnararaksha Mansion, Tai Zun Aun Blacksmith Shop, and the China Inn respectively.

What are the philosophies, interests and concepts behind your work?
Our working concept is Nature, Architecture and Culture. Sustainable architecture is a building that stands humbly between nature and culture. We see the building as an entity with foundations and roots that are always intertwined with and has originated from two things – nature and culture. As architects, we understand that we are not archaeologists so we always add the dimension of time to our designs, to provide a timely identity to our work. This is so users may recognise the root of the place and yet are able to distinguish the period when the building was built.
Could you share some of your works with short descriptions and photos with us?
Little Nyonya Hotel The project received a citation award at the South Up Architect event in 2016.
Xinlor House The concept of “Road-Car-Travel” came to be the main idea, using a form of Sinoindustrial as a medium to create an abstract concept into a real project.
Sound Gallery House The project belongs to the Lim family, and Lim in Chinese is translated as forest. The Lim family also owns the Yamaha Phuket School of Music, “Trees and Music” then became the main inspiration for creating a specific identity.
Swensen’s Kad Nan Kad Nan and the possibilities of “supporting each other” in new activities along with the space from older culture, even though it is a very commercial project.

How would you like the Thai architect profession to be seen?
We would like to see the Thai architecture industry gain an accurate understanding from the public as a “profession” – a practice that requires specific and interdisciplinary knowledge to work. Working as an architect is a professional practice. It is not a simply hired or an unskilled labor job. The value and honor of an architectural practice will then gradually gain more value. Only then will our profession be considered useful and will be used to further benefit the development our country in the future.
